My name is Adam Barker, and I am a Master’s student at Missouri State University, where I study Violin Performance and Orchestral Conducting. However, my first and foremost passion is to serve, love, and worship God. In my free time, I enjoy studying theology, politics, and culture; reading and watching fantasy and science fiction works; playing Minecraft; and listening to an eclectic set of music ranging from classical to Lo-fi to classic rock.
I am an evangelical Protestant in my beliefs, and I hold to the important ecumenical and historic creeds such as the Apostle’s Creed and the Nicene Creed. I am a theological conservative and a monergist, and I hold (generally) to Reformed Theology. My beliefs are largely informed by the Westminster Confession, the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion, and the 1689 London Baptist Confession, although I do not claim to agree with any of these documents in their entirety. Politically, I am a conservative libertarian (I prefer the term “theocratic libertarian”) and unashamedly pro-life. Perhaps the quirkiest thing about me is that I am Postmillenial in my eschatology. All of these things might seem to indicate otherwise, but I am actually not the biggest fan of labels and would like to be known primarily as a follower of Christ. However, this hopefully gives you a good idea of where I stand. Of course, I have much to learn, and my beliefs will continue to develop and change as I commit myself to faithfully learning Scripture and Christian teachings.
This blog is meant to be a place for me to attempt to express a biblical perspective on a wide variety of topics, including but not limited to theology, politics, culture, and current events. I plan to cover quite a bit of ground, but I also wish to emphasize a biblical and Christian perspective on some of the most relevant issues we face in this postmodern world and current era of church history. Ultimately though, I want to glorify God through my writing, hopefully be a helpful resource for anyone who happens to read what I have to say, and have a lot of fun in the whole process.
Soli Deo Gloria
